In November 2024, the new irrigation system for the municipalities of Ban Ngo and Nam Dan, located in the Xin Man district, was completed. This initiative is part of the project “Food Security for Families and Preschools in Ban Ngo and Nam Dan” and benefits 220 families by irrigating their agricultural fields, which are cultivated with rice, bananas, ginger, maize, soybeans, and other vegetables. The system now serves a total of 85 hectares of farmland.

In December, training sessions on the operation and management of the irrigation system began with the irrigation project management committee. The meeting, held on December 18th, was attended by 13 participants, including representatives from GTV, local authorities from Ban Ngo and Nam Dan, and representatives from four beneficiary villages involved in the project. During the meeting, the final list of committee members was agreed upon, and a consensus was reached regarding the collection of water fees from beneficiary families. The revenues from these fees will be used to ensure the future maintenance of the irrigation channels.

The technical training for the maintenance of the irrigation system took place the following day, with four members of the management committee from Ban Ngo and Nam Dan participating, along with two trainers from the construction company. The trainers explained the functioning of the irrigation system and its distribution points along the canal. They also demonstrated how to coordinate water distribution to agricultural fields and maintain the system, including water tanks, joints, and distribution points, which require special attention. This approach ensures the long-term sustainability of the irrigation project.

On the same day, a meeting was organized between the management committee of Nam Dan and the project beneficiaries in Nam Dan. More than 70 beneficiaries attended. During the meeting, the management committee presented the conclusions of their earlier discussions and explained to the beneficiaries how the water fees would be collected and how the system would function.
