Young people and children for the prevention of Covid-19
Dec 02 2022In all schools where toilets and washbasins have been built for the "Prevention and response to the Covid-19 emergency" project, signs and illustrative panels have been posted with the rules of good hygiene and prevention from Covid-19.
1,700 illustrated booklets on hygiene rules and prevention from the spread of viruses, with content adapted for age groups, were also created and distributed to students and teachers in the district. In order for these instructions to be assimilated by children, from 26 to 30 May, 24 young volunteers and university students belonging to the Vietnamese association CSDS carried out awareness campaigns on hygiene in the 12 children and primary schools involved in the project.
Accompanied by our GTV collaborators in Vietnam, for many of them (some of international origin) it was an experience that led them to discover an area of the country they had never visited before. A territory, that of the district of Xin Man and the villages where the schools are located, which presents some challenges that even these young people have had to face. However, each meeting turned out to be pleasant and successful thanks to the precious support of everyone: volunteers, teachers, local authorities, the enthusiastic participation of the students and the availability of many parents who in several cases, due to the weather and the practicability of the roads , they made available their scooters to make sure that the volunteers could reach the schools.
The volunteers who arrived from Hanoi spent a whole day in the company of 1,256 pupils. In the classrooms, they met the children and carried out various recreational and educational activities to teach them the importance of fighting the spread of Covid-19 through simple, good hygiene habits. The children got involved, participating and willingly answering the questions that were put to them, intrigued by the themes and engaging ways of the volunteers. At the end of the day, all students received, in addition to the illustrated booklet, also masks and soap for personal use.
Divided into groups, the volunteers ventured into the schools, bringing joy to the classes with quizzes, dances and practical activities such as on the walls of the services built thanks to the project, embellishing them with murals and paintings. These creative expressions have the dual objective of embellishing, making these spaces more pleasant and pleasant for children, and encouraging respect, maintenance and cleaning of the structures.
Also in this context, the correct use of the water resource could not be neglected. Thus, among the slogans and the colorful graphic illustrations created by the volunteers together with some students, the themes of hygiene and water saving came together.
Therefore, in the last week of May, thanks to these young volunteers, the children of Xin Man experienced very special days, so much so that sometimes, one day is enough to create a special bond and to be moved at the time of saying goodbye.
A big thank you to these smiling, competent and creative young people!
