Healthy Eating in families: The MAMI Project Continues

During the month of March, training sessions on healthy eating were extended to the parents of children in Pa Vay Su and Che La, in Tuyen Quang Province, as part of the MAMI project.

After completing the training, teachers and cooks from each school shared what they had learned with the students’ parents.
A training day on proper child nutrition was organized in 13 kindergartens in the target municipalities, with a particular focus on the preparation, storage, and distribution of meals, open to all parents and guardians of over 500 children.

The initiative aimed to strengthen parents’ nutritional skills through both a theoretical and practical approach, directly applicable to managing meals for children.
During the theoretical session, teachers explained the principles of balanced and varied meal planning, presenting the four essential food groups and the food pyramid model. They also explored nutrition specifically for children aged 0 to 5, with examples of menus created using locally available foods.
During the practical session, teachers and parents collaborated on hands-on activities related to meal preparation and management.
Attendance was very high, and participation remained steady throughout. Parents found the content to be clear, practical, and easy to apply in their daily lives.

Through these training sessions, both the participating schools and the parents involved gained useful tools for planning balanced meals and recognizing early signs of malnutrition in children.
