In December 2024, GTV successfully completed the project ' Drinking water for the Municipality of Ban Ngo' by implementing the final planned activities.

Between December 16th and 20th, awareness-raising activities on proper hygiene practices were organized in the four schools involved in the project. Over four days, teachers and GTV staff conducted training sessions on the importance of handwashing and the proper use of toilets and sinks. These sessions were supported by the installation of illustrated panels, which were later mounted on the walls of the school restrooms.

During these events, numerous hygiene products—such as hand soap, toilet paper, and cleaning products for restrooms—were also distributed to the schools. These will be shared among the schools to ensure access for all students. Unfortunately, schools in the area lack communal hygiene supplies, requiring students to bring their own materials from home, which often leads to poor hygiene and the limited use of cleaning products like soap.

Prior to these activities, GTV collaborated with the schools to repair and restore all existing toilets and sinks. This was necessary as hygiene infrastructure is often poorly maintained due to a lack of school funding and general neglect of hygiene-related issues. Only by raising awareness among teachers and students about the importance of proper hygiene practices can this approach begin to change.

Earlier in 2024, as part of the “Drinking Water for the Municipality of Ban Ngo” project, these four schools had already received water filters for purifying drinking water. Additionally, some teachers from each school participated in hygiene training sessions organized during the project.

Thus concludes this 12-month project, funded by the Trentino-Alto Adige Region, Allitude, and Mediocredito, which enabled 195 families to access safe drinking water and install water tanks at their homes. The project also equipped schools, the health center, and the public office in the municipality with the same facilities.
