Between June and September 2024, the Xin Man district was hit first, in June, by very heavy rainfall, and then, in September, by Typhoon Yagi. These two disastrous climatic events plunged the Ha Giang Province into a state of emergency.

The Xin Man district, where GTV operates, was also dramatically affected by the catastrophe, with 11 houses completely destroyed, 137 houses declared unsafe, and over 100 houses with partial damage to walls or roofs. Given the urgency of intervening to respond to the housing crisis, GTV immediately took action by launching the project "Response to the climate emergency and Typhoon YAGI in Xin Man district".

The annual target set is to secure the Nam Dan kindergarten and to contribute to the reconstruction of 40 homes, with the distribution of building materials to as many poor families affected by the typhoon. After the identification phase, which concluded in January, the distribution of materials and the start of work could begin last month.

Regarding the Nam Dan kindergarten, which currently hosts 35 students, the GTV project will ensure the safety of the rear of the building and its surroundings. In particular, the work now underway will consist of leveling the rear ground with an excavator to prevent future landslides, and the mountainous terrain will be reinforced with a concrete retaining wall and a drainage ditch.

The distribution of construction materials to the 40 families identified  iis also in progress. Specifically, each household will receive supplies of cement bricks, steel bars, corrugated roofing material, cement, and sand. This material contribution will be crucial for the 200 beneficiaries of the project  progetto, who will be able to regain more dignified living conditions after the disaster caused by the typhoon.
